Tips for Charitable Giving

• Slow down and do not be pressured.
• If called, ask for information via mail. Do not trust caller I.D. as it can be faked.
• If donations are asked for in the form of cash, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or a wire transfer, chances are high that it is a scam.
• Be careful when giving for the current ‘disaster’–many scammers will quickly create legitimate looking disaster relief organizations–so research is key–and best to stick with well known or well vetted groups for making sure your money is used as you intend.
